Woodend Beeswing

Woodend is a lodge just outside the village of Beeswing. It's detached, so you've got space all around you. You're right on the edge of Mabie Forest.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. Everything is on one level, which is handy. The entrance and the main living space are step-free, but it's not a fully adapted wheelchair property. You'd need to check the details.

There's a hot tub on the patio. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have kids or a dog. Speaking of which, no pets allowed, sorry.

For facilities, you've got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking right there. Bedding and towels are included.

Location-wise, you're right in it for mountain biking. The Mabie Forest trails and the 7Stanes are literally on your doorstep. For a quieter look around, Loch Arthur Farm Shop is about a mile up the road in Beeswing. They do good food and cheese.

Dumfries is about a 15 minute drive. It's a proper town with supermarkets, shops, and places to eat. Castle Douglas is about 20 minutes the other way. It's smaller but has excellent food shops.

The coast at Dalbeattie or the Solway is about half an hour's drive. The Galloway Forest Park, which is huge, is about 40 minutes away. It's a Dark Sky Park, so on a clear night you can see a lot of stars.
