Woodend
Woodend is in Beeswing, about four and a half miles out from Dumfries. It's a detached timber lodge. The main thing is it's right on the edge of Mabie Forest. You get the trees right there.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's all on one level, so no stairs to worry about. The front door is wide and there's a ramp, so it's good for wheelchair access.
You have your own garden and patio with a hot tub. Inside it's open plan. There's a wood stove for colder days. It's got a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi and TV. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
The location is quiet. The forest starts practically from the garden gate. If you're into mountain biking, the 7Stanes trails at Mabie are right there. For a gentler cycle or walk, you can just head into the forest from the property.
The Galloway Forest Park is about a twenty minute drive. It's a big, dark sky area if you're interested in stargazing. There are lochs and walking routes all through it.
Dumfries itself is about fifteen minutes by car. You've got all the shops and places to eat there. Castle Douglas, the 'Food Town', is about twenty-five minutes away. The coast at Southerness is roughly half an hour.
