Butterhole Farmhouse is in Islesteps, near Dumfries. It's a fairly big farmhouse, renovated a few years ago. We live next door.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is an en-suite. The rating is 4 Star. It's comfortable and clean.
It's set in Mabie Forest, so the views from most rooms are over fields and trees. The dining room has a big wood burner if you need it. The stairs are normal, not too steep.
You're right on the edge of the forest, so you can walk straight out onto the trails. The 7stanes mountain biking routes are here. There's an adventure playground and a butterfly reserve in the forest too. Mabie Farm Park is just down the road if you have children with you.
There's a pub, the Mabie House Hotel, about a ten minute walk away. The nearest shop is three miles away in Dumfries.
Dumfries town is about ten minutes by car. The coast at Southerness is a twenty minute drive. For a day out, Threave Garden is good, or Caerlaverock Castle. Both are within half an hour.
Facilities are all included. There's a washing machine, a fully enclosed garden, parking, wifi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog.
