Butterhole Farmhouse is near Islesteps in Dumfriesshire. It's a traditional farmhouse. We live next door in the other part of the building. The house sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms upstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The house was renovated a few years ago. The rooms are a good size and most of them have the view, which is over fields and woodland. There's a dining room with a wood burner for colder nights. One of the bedrooms has windows on two sides, so you get the morning light.
It's set right in Mabie Forest. You can walk straight out into the trees. The 7stanes mountain biking trails are on the doorstep if that's your thing. There's a hotel with a pub about 500 yards down the lane.
For a day out, Mabie Farm Park is just below the forest. It's good for children. Dumfries is about a fifteen minute drive for shops. The coast at Southerness is roughly half an hour away. There are several castles and gardens within a 30 minute drive, like Caerlaverock Castle and Threave Garden.
In terms of what's here: there's a washing machine, an enclosed garden, parking, wifi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a highchair and stairgate. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
