Terraughtie Cottage West
Terraughtie Cottage West is near Cargenbridge, just outside Dumfries. It's semi-detached. The road's quiet. It's handy for town but you feel properly in the countryside.
It was all done up in 2023, so everything's fresh. Sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both rooms are a good size. One has a double, the other has twins. There's one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star.
It's open plan downstairs, with a wood burner. It stays warm. Garden out the back is yours. There's a patio and a barbecue. It also has a private hot tub.
You can bring two dogs. There's parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. The washing machine and dishwasher are the standard sort. WiFi works fine.
A farm shop and cafe, Kilnford Kitchen, is just down the road. You can walk. They do food and have a play area.
Dumfries town centre is about two and a half miles. There's a leisure centre there, shops, and places to eat. You can drive in, or cycle on the paths.
If you like fishing, Auldernauk Fishery is close by. It's a fly-fishing loch.
For bigger days out, Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour's drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, so on a clear night it's incredible. The coast, like Sandyhills Beach, is about 30 minutes away. The 7Stanes mountain biking routes are also within that sort of distance.
