Martha's Shore Cottage
This is Martha's Shore Cottage. It's in Kelton, near Dumfries. It's detached and sits on its own, looking out over fields towards the River Nith.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is useful. There's also a wet room on the ground floor. The whole place is on one level and it's wheelchair accessible, with grab rails in places.
It's a 4 Star place. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic. It was built around 1700, originally for a fisherman. The stone mason who worked on the local estate lived here later on. It's got a woodburning stove for the colder evenings.
You get your own enclosed garden. There's parking right there. It has WiFi, a TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are provided. You can bring one dog.
There's a village shop and a decent pub about half a mile away. Dumfries is three miles for supermarkets and other things.
You can walk straight from the door along the river. There's a lot of wildlife to see. The roads round here are quiet if you like cycling. Caerlaverock Castle is about three miles away. It's a good day out. The Solway Firth coast and some sandy beaches are within a 30 minute drive.
