The Tranquil Orchard - Woodpecker is a lodge in Woodside, Dumfriesshire. It's detached and set back from the road, so it's quiet. You look out onto fields and trees.

It sleeps three people in three bedrooms, with one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The layout is all on one floor, which is good if stairs are a problem. The doors are wide enough for a wheelchair and there's a walk-in shower.

Inside, it's open plan. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

Outside, there's a private patio area with garden furniture and on-site parking. You can store bicycles.

The location is rural. The nearest pub is about two miles away. A shop and restaurant are five miles. The Solway coast is about ten miles drive for a beach day.

There's a swimming pool on the site you can use. Also on site, there's a play area for children and Drummuir Farm Ice Cream is a short walk away. A beauty and wellness treatment service operates on site too, called KAM Beauty.

For days out, Dumfries is nearby for shops and restaurants. Castle Douglas is known for its food shops. Caerlaverock Wetland Centre is a short drive away and is good for wildlife. The area is known for walking, cycling, and dark skies at night.
