Burnside is a studio apartment in Torthorwald. It's one of those places where it's all in one room, but it's big so it doesn't feel cramped. Good for a couple.
It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's been done up pretty well. The bed's in an alcove off the main living space.
The best bit is probably the conservatory on the back. It's got double doors that open into the garden. You get the sun in there most of the day. The garden has a little stream running through it.
The bathroom is a walk-in wet room. It's all on the ground floor and it's set up to be wheelchair accessible. The entrance has a shallow ramp.
You're on the edge of the hamlet, so it's quiet. There's a pub and a restaurant you can walk to. For a shop, you'd drive into Dumfries. That's about ten minutes away. They've got everything you'd need.
You're well placed for getting out. The coast is about a twenty minute drive. There's some good beach walking at Caerlaverock or Rockcliffe. For a proper day's walking, you've got the Southern Upland Way or you can head up into the Galloway Forest Park, which is about forty minutes. The mountain biking at the 7stanes trails is famous. The nearest one is at Ae Forest, maybe a twenty-five minute drive.
In Dumfries, you've got the Robert Burns stuff if that's your interest. The Dark Sky Park in Galloway is worth the trip if the forecast is clear.
Facilities: there's parking right outside, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. All the bedding and towels are included. There's space to store bikes. No pets.
