You're well placed for getting about. Lockerbie station isn't far. You can get a train to Glasgow or Edinburgh in about an hour if you want a city day. The coast, like Rockcliffe or Kippford, is about a thirty minute drive. The beaches there are good.

Dumfries is about twenty minutes away. That's where you'll find the Robert Burns House. There's also the Annandale Distillery in Annan if you like whisky. For walking or biking, there's a lot of forest and low hill country around here. The National Trust for Scotland has places like Threave Garden nearby, and the Dumfries & Galloway River Trust site has information on the local area.
