Conheath Gatelodge Cottage
Conheath Gatelodge is a cottage near Dumfries. It's detached and single-storey, so everything's on the one level. You get your own garden. The views from there are over fields, all the way down to the Nith estuary.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms, and unusually there are two bathrooms, which is handy. The rating is 4 Star. It's a traditional Georgian place, so the ceilings are a bit lower than a modern house and the windowsills are deep. It's just how old cottages are.
The place is kitted out with a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and there's parking right outside. You can have one well-behaved dog. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings.
You can walk straight from the door along the river. There's a lot of birdlife around. The roads nearby are quiet, good for cycling. Caerlaverock Castle is about three miles away. The WWT Caerlaverock Wetland Centre is right there too, if you like that sort of thing.
Dumfries is only three miles for shops, places to eat, and a cinema. The Solway coast is easy to get to for beaches. There's a village pub about half a mile away, and a shop the same distance.
