This is Conheath Gatelodge Cottage. It's near Dumfries, about three miles from the town. The cottage is detached, single-storey, so everything's on one level.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have their own en-suite shower room, which is useful. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-finished.
The main thing is the view. You look out over fields towards the Nith Estuary. The garden is yours to use. There's a woodburning stove for cooler nights.
You can walk straight from the door along the river. Good for spotting birds. The roads around here are quiet if you want to bring bikes. There's storage for them.
Caerlaverock Castle is about three miles away. It's a good one, right by the wildfowl marshes. Historic Environment Scotland has the details.
Dumfries has all the shops, places to eat, a cinema. The Solway coast is easy to get to. Sandy beaches and old fishing villages are a short drive away.
There's a local pub and a shop about half a mile up the road. In the cottage you've got a washing machine, wifi, TV, parking. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
