Brae Cottage
Brae Cottage is in Islesteps, near Dumfries. It's a detached cottage, so no one's attached to you. The garden is enclosed and looks out over fields. The views are good. You can see right down the valley.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean but not high-end. It was all updated a few years ago. There's a living room and a separate dining room, which is handy if you want to spread out.
The pub is about a five minute walk down the lane. They do food. The nearest shop for a proper supermarket is in Dumfries, about three miles away.
You're right on the edge of Mabie Forest. You can walk straight out the gate onto the trails. The 7stanes mountain biking routes start there, if that's your thing. There's also Mabie Farm Park just down the road, which is good if you've got kids.
Dumfries is close for anything you need. The coast is about half an hour's drive. Southerness, Rockcliffe, places like that. It's a nice run out. You've got Caerlaverock Castle and Drumlanrig Castle within a 30 minute drive too.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking for a couple of cars. You can bring one dog.
