Butterhole Cottage is a bungalow next to our farmhouse at Islesteps. It's attached to our place, but you've got your own door and a private garden round the side.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One double, one twin. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means it's clean and comfortable but not fancy. We redid it a few years ago. The main room is at the front so you get the view over the fields. It has a wood burner. We leave you some logs to get started.
The kitchen is small but it has what you need: a cooker, fridge, washing machine. There's a table in there to eat. The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for a dog. We accept one well-behaved pet.
You're right on the edge of Mabie Forest. You can walk straight out the gate onto the trails. The 7Stanes mountain bike routes are there if that's your thing. There's a pub about ten minutes walk down the lane. They do food.
Dumfries is about a fifteen minute drive. That's where you'll find the big supermarkets. The coast is maybe half an hour. Southerness has a beach and a golf course. Threave Garden and Drumlanrig Castle are both a short drive away. For a good day out, the National Trust for Scotland's Threave Estate is worth a look.
What's here: parking, TV, wifi, all bedding and towels, a highchair if needed. The heating and electricity are included.
