Erriff At Caelaverock

This is Erriff at Caerlaverock. It's a terraced house in Glencaple, right on the River Nith estuary. The view from the front is the main thing, really. You look straight out over the water.

It sleeps eight people. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of the bathrooms have those big, deep slipper baths. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well kept and comfortable. There's a wood burner in the living room. The patio doors open onto a covered veranda, so you can sit outside even if it's drizzling.

Glencaple is a small village. There's an award-winning restaurant and shop on the quay, about a two minute walk away. The pub is a bit further, about a mile.

You're on the Caerlaverock Estate here. The Caerlaverock Wetland Centre is a five minute drive. It's a huge wild reserve for birds. Caerlaverock Castle is just up the road too. It's a triangular castle, quite unusual.

Dumfries is about twenty minutes by car for bigger shops. Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas are nice for smaller galleries and places to eat. The Solway coast is good for walking, with a lot of quiet beaches. It gets very dark at night here, so the stars can be brilliant if you get a clear sky.

For facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. The garden is enclosed. You can bring up to two dogs.

Some useful links: Galloway Forest Park is about a forty minute drive for walking and biking. Also National Trust for Scotland in the south.
