Bankswood Cottage is in Blackshaw, just south of Dumfries. It's detached, so no one next door. The garden's enclosed with a walled patio bit, which gets the sun.
It sleeps six, three bedrooms. Two bathrooms which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been renovated, so it feels fresh and everything works. One bathroom has a walk-in shower. There's also a wheelchair accessible entrance at the front.
The location is the main thing. You're right on the edge of the Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve. You can see the Solway Firth and over to the Lake District on a clear day. Caerlaverock Castle is just down the road. The WWT Caerlaverock wetland centre is about a quarter of a mile away, good for families.
Dumfries is about ten minutes by car for supermarkets and shops. There are a few tearooms within five miles.
For getting out, you've got forest tracks at Mabie for cycling. There's golf at Southerness. The area is flat, good for walking or cycling. The coast path is right there.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler nights. Facilities are all there: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring two dogs. We can provide a cot and highchair if needed.
We also have another house nearby called Gullsway, if you need space for more people.
