Iona Cottage is in Ruthwell, Dumfriesshire. It's semi-detached and single-storey, so everything's on one level. You get the garden to yourselves. It looks out over the Solway towards the Lake District. You can see it from the front windows.
It's for two people, maximum. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's straightforward and clean.
You're at the south end of Scotland here, right by the sea. The coastline is mostly saltmarsh and mudflats, it's not a sandy beach. Good for birdwatching though. You can walk to the shore from the cottage.
There's a local pub a short walk up the road. They serve food. For shops and things, Annan is about four miles away and Dumfries is about seven.
You're well-placed for a few things. Caerlaverock Castle is very close. The WWT centre at Caerlaverock is right there too, if you're into that. Mabie Forest has mountain bike trails, and Southerness has a golf course. The River Nith is nearby for fishing.
If you want to go further, you can be in the Lake District within an hour's drive. Glasgow is about an hour and a half the other way.
Facilities wise: it's got a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site. Pets are welcome, up to two.
