Pleacairn Cottage is a converted old dairy on the edge of Dalton. It's just us here on the smallholding, so it's detached and quiet. The main thing is the view out the front, over the fields. It's really good.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. Everything is on the ground floor. The shower is a walk-in one.
The local pub is about half a mile walk down the lane. They do food. For a shop, you'd need to drive five miles.
We're right in the middle of the 7Stanes mountain biking trails. You can store bikes here. If you're not into that, the walking is just as good. The Galloway Hills and the coast aren't far. The beach at Sandyhills is about a 20-minute drive.
There's a lot of history around here. Castles and abbeys. Hoddom Castle is just down the road. For a bigger trip, Dumfries is about half an hour, and you can get to Glasgow or the Lake District in around an hour.
Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, which is nice in the evening. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking right outside. We allow up to two dogs.
