Cardoness House is a big Victorian sandstone place on Cardoness Street in Dumfries. It's a tall, solid-looking house from the outside.
It sleeps six, in four bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's been updated so everything works, but it still feels like an old house. The rooms are all very big, with high ceilings. The front rooms have bay windows.
You're less than a mile from the town centre. There's a Robert Burns connection all over the town if you're interested in that. The Caerlaverock Wetland Centre is about ten miles away, good for a day out if you like birds and walks.
The house has a garden and parking for one car on the drive. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher. WiFi, bedding and towels are included. You can store bikes.
Dumfries and Galloway itself is good for coast, dark skies, and quiet roads. Glasgow and the Lake District are both about an hour and a half's drive if you fancy a longer trip.
