Auchen Ladder is a new bungalow on our farm. It's detached, so no neighbours on either side. The views are over our fields towards Dumfries and out to the Solway Firth. It's very quiet out here.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Everything's on one level, which is handy. It's got a 5 Star rating, which basically means it's well put together and everything works as it should. It's modern and spacious inside.
The main room is open plan. The French doors open onto a private patio. There's a hot tub out there. The garden is enclosed.
You're on a working farm, so you'll see us going about our day. There's an electric vehicle charger on the side of the house if you need it.
The nearest shop and pub is about four and a half miles away in Amisfield. Dumfries is the same distance for bigger supermarkets. It's a proper market town. Robert Burns' last home is there, Burns House.
The coast is about twenty minutes' drive. Southerness has a lighthouse and a long beach. Rockcliffe and Kippford are nice for a wander. The cliffs and inlets around there are good for walking.
If you like gardens, the ones nearby are worth it because of the Gulf Stream. Threave Garden is about half an hour away. So is Logan Botanic Garden.
For castles, Caerlaverock Castle is a moated ruin near the coast. Drumlanrig Castle is inland, maybe thirty-five minutes north. The mountain biking around here is serious, if that's your thing. The 7stanes trails are within reach.
Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, I'm afraid.
