Hill Farm

Right, so Hill Farm is in Wenhaston village, inland in Suffolk. It's a detached old cottage that sleeps five, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which basically means it's been done up well.

It's a proper old place with beams. Watch your head on a couple of them inside. There are also some internal steps between rooms and the floor slopes a bit on the landing and in the single bedroom. Just so you know.

The garden is big and a bit wild. There are two large ponds, one is a wildlife pond. It's enclosed by hedges but because of that, it's not completely secure. There's a seating area and a barbecue.

You can park two cars in the cart lodge and another two on the drive. One dog is welcome. We leave out a towel, blanket, bowls, a few treats and poo bags for it. There's an outside tap for cleaning muddy paws.

The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a woodburner for cooler evenings. Bedding and towels are provided. We even put in bathrobes and slippers.

There are two pubs that do food within walking distance. For bigger shops, you'd drive to Halesworth.

The coast is about a twenty to thirty minute drive. Southwold has a nice beach and the town is good for a wander. Walberswick is over the river, popular for crabbing. Aldeburgh is a bit further south.

If you like walking, there are footpaths right from the door. For birdwatching, RSPB Minsmere is a short drive away. Dunwich Heath and the museum are nearby too, which talks about the lost city. The National Trust looks after the heath and beach there.

Further afield, within about half an hour, you've got Framlingham Castle, the Suffolk coast and heaths area, and Sutton Hoo.
