Tollgate Cottage
Tollgate Cottage is in Blythburgh, right by the estuary. It's a bungalow, so it's all on one level. Detached, with its own garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs or kids.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's included: bedding, towels, electricity. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher. Parking for one car on the drive.
The cottage is next to the A12. You can hear the road, especially during the day. It's not overwhelming, but it's there. The trade-off is that you're very well placed for getting up and down the coast.
The local pub is about 50 yards away, which is handy. They do food. The village shop is in Walberswick, a couple of miles down the road.
Southwold is about ten minutes by car. It's got the pier, the beach huts, a few shops. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline around here if you're planning walks. Walberswick is the other way, famous for crabbing off the bridge. You need a line, a bucket, and some bacon.
For a longer walk, Dunwich Heath and the woods are good. The RSPB reserve at Minsmere is about a 15-minute drive. They have a website for sightings if you're a serious birdwatcher.
The cottage allows two pets. There's a golf course nearby at Southwold. The famous Blythburgh church, the 'Cathedral of the Marshes', is a short walk away.
