It’s called Dove Cottage. It's in Halesworth, Suffolk. Basically, it's two old stables joined onto our house. They're listed, so we had to be careful with the renovation. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower.
It's got a 5 Star rating, which means everything's in good order. You've got your own patio garden that's fully enclosed, so it's safe for dogs. We allow up to three pets. There's a woodburner for the winter, and a barbecue out the back.
Inside, there's a dishwasher and a washing machine. All the bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's also an electric vehicle charger on the drive.
The town centre is about a ten minute walk. There's a good shop and a couple of pubs. Halesworth has a bit of an arts scene, which is nice.
You're about eight miles from the coast. Southwold is the classic spot, with its beach and lighthouse. Walberswick is just over the river, good for crabbing. Heading north, you've got Dunwich Heath and the RSPB reserve at Minsmere. Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are about twenty minutes south.
If you fancy a longer drive, you can be at the edge of the Norfolk Broads in under forty minutes. The Visit Suffolk website has a lot of good information for planning days out.
