Old Corn Mill
This is Old Corn Mill. It's one of a few converted barns here on our farm in Walpole, Suffolk. We've about 80 acres of fields where we keep our beef cattle.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The barns are old, 18th century, but we've tried to keep the character. The stairs are proper cottage stairs, which means they're a bit steep.
You share a few things with guests from the other barns if they're booked. There's an indoor heated pool you can book private sessions for. It's open from Easter to September. There's also a big games room with an indoor pitch for football or tennis.
The main living area is quite open plan and big, good for a group. If you book all the barns together, you can fit sixteen. We put up Christmas decorations in here over the festive season.
You're out in the countryside here. The nearest shop is about three miles away. There's a pub and restaurant two and a half miles off. For the coast, you're looking at about eight miles. Southwold is good for the beach and the promenade. Aldeburgh is famous for fish and chips. Dunwich is great for walks and it's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The RSPB Minsmere reserve is nearby if you like birdwatching.
Inland, you've got Framlingham with its castle. Halesworth is the nearest market town. Beccles is nice too, and it's on the edge of the Norfolk Broads.
Facilities wise: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's an enclosed garden with a BBQ and parking on site. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
