Old Dairy
This is the Old Dairy. It's on our farm in Walpole, Suffolk. The building was a dairy a long time ago. It's part of a small group of barns we've converted.
It sleeps three people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's open plan on the ground floor.
The furniture is all on one level, so it might suit someone who finds stairs difficult. The patio area outside is enclosed, which is good if you have little children.
You share the grounds with the other barns, but you have your own space. The big thing here is the indoor heated swimming pool, which you can book for private sessions. It's open from Easter to September. There's also a games room with an indoor astro pitch for football or tennis.
It's a working beef farm, so you'll see cows in the fields. We're about three miles from a shop. The nearest pub is two and a half miles away.
The coast is about eight miles. Southwold is a good day out. Aldeburgh is a bit further. For walking, RSPB Minsmere is well-known. The Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is all around there.
Inland, Framlingham Castle is worth a visit. Halesworth is the local market town. Beccles is nice and it’s on the edge of the Norfolk Broads.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi included. Bedding and towels are provided. We can supply a cot and highchair. There's parking right outside. Sorry, no pets.
At Christmas, we put up decorations in the cottage to make it festive.
If you're coming with a bigger group, you can book the Old Dairy together with the other barns on site. They sleep more people.
