The Cart Lodge
The Cart Lodge is in Uggeshall in Suffolk. It's a converted barn. We converted it a few years ago. It sleeps four, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.
It's on our land, about twenty acres. We've got horses in the fields. There's a small lake where you might see herons. You get your own garden with a patio and a BBQ. It's a quiet spot. You can see fields from the windows.
The stairs up to the bedrooms are a bit steep. It's the original barn ladder staircase. Just something to be aware of.
Inside, it's got everything you'd need. Washing machine, Wi-Fi, towels and bedding are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.
For a pint and something to eat, there's a local pub about a mile away. A proper shop is about the same distance.
The coast is about three miles. Southwold is the main town there. It's got the lighthouse, the pier, and the beach huts. You can walk from the harbour over to Walberswick. The beach at Southwold is a Blue Flag beach.
If you like walking, Dunwich Heath is close by. The RSPB Minsmere reserve is less than eight miles away. It's very good for birdwatching.
Beccles is about eight miles. You can hire boats there for the southern Broads. For a bigger day out, Norwich is about twenty-six miles. It has the cathedral and the castle.
