Bay Tree Cottage is in Highampton. It's a bungalow, all on one level. One bedroom, sleeps two. It's got a 4 Star rating which means it's well looked after. It's attached to our place, but it's separate. You'll have privacy, but I'm next door if you need anything.
The main room is open-plan, so the living area, dining table and kitchen are all together. It's simple and clean. There's a TV and WiFi. The bedroom has a double bed. The shower room has a walk-in shower.
Outside, there's a private courtyard with a table and chairs. You can have breakfast out there if it's sunny. Beyond that, there's a shared lawn and a bit of woodland you're welcome to use.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.
This is proper countryside. It's quiet. The nearest proper village is Hatherleigh, about three miles away. It's got a couple of pubs, a shop, and a good cafe. The area is called Ruby Country. It's good for walking.
If you want to go further, you're about halfway between the north and south coasts. Bude and the beaches that way are about 35-40 minutes by car. Dartmoor is to the south, maybe 45 minutes to get up onto the moor itself. The Tarka Trail is nearby for cycling. The National Trust has a few properties within an hour's drive, like Castle Drogo.
It's a good spot if you just want to switch off, or if you want a base to go exploring. Rosemary Cottage, next door, is a bit bigger. You can book both together if there are four of you.
