Sheepwash Square House is a thatched house from the 1600s right on the village square in Sheepwash. It sleeps ten people, in six bedrooms, and it has four bathrooms.
It's a big, old house, so it's got character. The stairs are proper old cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep and turn corners. The front door opens directly onto the village square, which is quiet, but it's worth knowing.
The kitchen has a big island which is good if you're cooking for a crowd. The main living room is big, with a wood burner and a piano. Each bedroom has its own tea and coffee stuff, a desk, and good towels and bedding. Two of the bedrooms have their own shower rooms.
Outside, there's a walled garden with seating and a summer house. At the back there's a separate studio building with a TV, some exercise equipment and a couple of armchairs.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's a utility area by the back door with a dog flap out to the courtyard, and a couple of dog beds are there if you need them.
The village shop opens a few days a week. The pub is about a minute's walk away and does food. For a big supermarket, you'd drive to Hatherleigh or Holsworthy.
It's a good spot for getting out. You're about half an hour's drive from the coast at Westward Ho! or Bude. Dartmoor is about 25 minutes south; the village of Belstone is a nice spot for a walk and a pub lunch. The Tarka Trail for cycling is easy to get to from Bideford. For local walks and information, the Dartmoor National Park site is useful.
Facilities: there's parking on the drive, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and bedding and towels are included.
