Excellent walking, cycling and bird watching are available direct from the doorstep. The Broads are all within easy reach. Boats can be hired at Stalham Staithe, Sutton Staithe, Potter Heigham Staithe and of course Wroxham, The Capital of The Broads. Canoes are best hired at Wayford Bridge with access to narrower waterways which don’t have power boats. Wroxham, capital of the Norfolk Broads National Park, 12 miles.
Enjoy a 20 minutes’ stroll along the beach to Cart Gap where you can refuel at the local café which offers breakfast, lunch, and a dinner menu. On Sundays, why not watch the RNLI practicing manoeuvres. Take a closer look into the lifeboat shed, check out the lifeboats and gift shop. Sea Palling is 45 minutes’ stroll away along the beach for those preferring to take an easier walk along the lane, just 30 minutes’ walk away. Here you will find local pub, café, fish and chips, and village shop/post office.
The traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, 20 miles, offers fun for all. National Trust historical houses and gardens, nature and bird reserves are within driving distance. Visit the seals at Horsey beach. If you visit betwee December and February you will see hundreds of grey seals and their pups. A must for shopaholics is the historic city of Norwich, 19 miles, for two indoor shopping malls, market square, theatre, cathedral, castle museum and plenty of eateries. Local supermarket and shops can be found at Stalham 5 miles away, but a great local butcher and farm shop can be found on the road to Sea Palling.
