The location is great for walking, with routes available direct from the door including waterside along the River Ribble, and over Waddington Fell where you’ll enjoy stunning views over the surrounding villages. For those familiar with Lord of the Rings, quite superbly the Tolkien Trail can be picked up in nearby Hurst Green, and more widely the Forest of Bowland can be explored and is home to some of the most scenic countryside in the UK. Cyclists will love the winding country lanes which snake through the valley and at the end of a long day you can reward yourself with some homecooked food in one of the various local pubs and restaurants which can be reached in around a 15-minute walk.
The picturesque village of Waddington with its stream trickling through the centre and stunning Coronation Gardens has three lovely pubs, and in West Bradford there is a rustic Grade II listed pub with wood burners, perfect for cosy winter evenings. The market town of Clitheroe is around a 10-minute drive and is home to ample amenities including boutique shops, cafés, bars and restaurants and is overlooked by the Norman fort which stands proudly in the centre.
Finally, Skipton, which is widely known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is a 30-minute drive. Here you’ll find food and drink galore, a famous market, an iconic castle and of course more stunning countryside.
