Providence Cottage

Providence Cottage is in Turnchapel. It’s one of two old semi-detached houses, three floors high. The village is quiet, it feels a bit tucked away, but you can drive into Plymouth in about ten minutes.

It sleeps six with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It’s a 4 Star place, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring one dog. The garden at the front is enclosed, so it’s secure for them. A lane right next to the house leads down to a pebbly shore.

The views from the bedrooms are the main thing. They look out over the estuary and the marina. The top bedroom has a telescope. On a clear night, you can see quite a lot.

The South West Coast Path goes right through the village. You can walk along it to Mountbatten, which is about half a mile. From there you can get the water taxi over to the Barbican in Plymouth. That’s a good way to avoid the traffic. Mountbatten has a marina, some restaurants and boat trips.

There are two pubs in the village, one is about twenty yards away. They get busier in the summer. There’s a shop and a restaurant about half a mile away.

Inside, it has the things you’d need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We’ve put in a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you’ve got little ones.

For planning days out, the South West Coast Path site is useful. So is the National Trust Devon page for places like Saltram, which is close by.
