The Ravine

The Ravine is in Heybrook Bay, near Plymouth. It's a modern annexe we built at the side of our house. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one shower room. It's got its own parking spot and a separate entrance, so it's private.

It's open plan inside, so the living area, kitchen and bedroom are all in one space. There's a proper double bed, a sofa, TV, and a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, two-ring hob, and a dishwasher. There's a washing machine in the shared utility room in our garage, which you're welcome to use.

The best part is the balcony. It gets the afternoon sun and you can see the sea from it. There's a table and chairs out there. You can watch the ferries heading in and out of Plymouth. Sometimes you can hear the ranges at HMS Raleigh firing, but it's not all the time.

The coastal path is right across the road. If you turn left and walk for about half an hour, you get to Bovisand beach. It's a nice sandy cove. If you turn right, it's about a 45 minute walk into Wembury. The Wembury Beach Café does good food and it's right by the Marine Conservation Centre. The Wembury Rocks are out there if you're into snorkelling.

The local pub is 100 yards up the road. They do meals. The nearest shop for basics is about a mile away in Brixton. For a big supermarket, you'd drive to Plymstock or into Plymouth.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. We provide all the bedding and towels.

For things to do, Plymouth is a 20 minute drive. The National Trust has a lot of places nearby, like Saltram and the Overbeck's Garden at Sharpitor. Dartmoor is about a 30 minute drive if you head north.
