Coastguard Cottage is a terraced house right on the beach road at Caister on Sea. The beach is literally at the end of the street. You can see the sea from the upstairs windows.
It says it sleeps eight and it does, just. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and well equipped. The layout is a bit unusual because of how it's built into the slope, so some rooms are split-level. The stairs are a typical cottage style, so they're a bit steeper than modern ones.
The big thing is the garden. It's walled and private, and it has a hot tub. You're next to a caravan park, but the garden is yours. You can use the caravan park's clubhouse if you want, they have a bar and a restaurant. There's a play area for kids there too.
The beach is very close but you can't get to it directly from the drive. You walk to the end of the road and down. It's a good beach for surfing in the winter. The village of Caister is about five minutes walk away. It has a few shops, cafes, and a couple of places for fish and chips. There's a pub about fifty yards from the cottage.
Great Yarmouth is a ten minute drive. That's where all the big amusements and the Pleasure Beach are. It's a proper traditional seaside resort.
If you want to do something else, the Norfolk Broads are about twenty minutes away. You can hire a boat for the day there. Norwich is a good half hour drive, maybe forty minutes. It's a nice city for shopping and they have a castle and a cathedral.
For kids, Bewilderwood is about half an hour away. It's a big adventure park in the trees. There's also Thrigby Hall and Africa Alive nearby if you like wildlife parks.
What's included: all bedding and towels, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on the drive. The entrance is step-free so it's suitable for wheelchair access to the ground floor. No pets, I'm afraid.
