Mid Bishopton Cottage

Mid Bishopton Cottage is on the farm here, just outside Whithorn. It's one of a pair of detached cottages. It's on the ground floor, which is helpful. The whole place is yours, and there's an enclosed garden out the back. It's a working farm, so you'll see cattle about.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring up to two dogs. The entrance and the main living space are wheelchair accessible, but do check with us about specific needs as the bathroom isn't fully adapted.

The cottage is detached, so no shared walls. There's parking right outside. You've got a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. There's storage for bikes.

For supplies, the nearest shop is about a mile away in Whithorn. The closest pub and restaurant are three miles off. The coast is about the same distance. You can walk to some lovely rocky bits from here, but for a long sandy beach, you'd drive to Garlieston or Port William.

If you're here for the outdoors, you're in a good spot. The Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park is within a half hour drive for stargazing. There's good walking from the door and loads of forestry tracks for cycling. The Galloway Forest Park site has maps. For history, Whithorn itself is the site of the earliest Christian church in Scotland. The Historic Environment Scotland page has the details.

You're about a 30 minute drive from the Machars peninsula, Wigtown, and the Mull of Galloway. The Mull is the southernmost point, with the lighthouse. The RSPB reserve there is good for seabirds. In the right season, you might see seals or even whales from the headland.

The other cottage, Cotters Cottage, is next door. You can book both together if there's more of you.
