The Seaview Retreat

The Seaview Retreat is on our farm near Whithorn. It's a detached place, so no shared walls. It sleeps three. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We refurbished it in 2021 so it's fresh and tidy.

The main thing is the view. The living room looks straight out over the fields to Wigtown Bay. You can see the water from the sofa. There's a patio outside with a table and chairs, and a wood-fired hot tub. It's very dark at night, so the stars are good.

It's a working farm, so you'll see sheep and tractors. It's quiet, but not silent. You'll hear farm noises sometimes.

The Isle of Whithorn is five minutes down the road by car. It's a little harbour. There's a pub and a tearoom there. You can sit and watch the boats.

Whithorn itself is Scotland's book town. Lots of little bookshops. Newton Stewart is a bigger town about a twenty-minute drive, for supermarkets and more places to eat.

The coast here is good. There are sandy beaches. Portpatrick is a pretty fishing port, about half an hour's drive. The RSPB reserve at the Mull of Galloway is about forty minutes away, if you like seabirds.

For walking or cycling, the Galloway Forest Park is inland. The 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Kirroughtree are about a thirty-minute drive.

Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. TV, shower, washing machine. No pets, sorry. If you're a bigger group, you can book this place with the two other cottages on the farm.
