Oor Wee Hoose

Oor Wee Hoose is on the main street in Whithorn. It's a terrace house. We bought it a few years ago and fixed it up. It's got a 4 Star rating, which we were pleased with.

It sleeps four, but in four single bedrooms. It's set up more for friends or a family with kids than two couples. There are two bathrooms, which helps. The stairs are standard for a house like this. We've put in a stairgate at the top.

The back garden is enclosed. It's private, with a table and chairs. Good for a drink in the evening or if you've brought a dog. We allow one well-behaved pet.

In the village, you've got a shop a few minutes walk away. There's a pub that does meals and a restaurant. Whithorn is quiet, but there's a few artists' studios about.

You're about a ten minute drive from the coast. The Isle of Whithorn is a small harbour village with a tea room and a pub right on the water. Good for a walk. The beaches round here are sandy and often empty.

For a day out, Wigtown is about twenty minutes away. It's Scotland's book town, full of bookshops. Newton Stewart is a bit bigger, maybe twenty-five minutes. It has decent supermarkets and places to eat. It's right on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park, which is good for walking and mountain biking. The Logan Botanic Garden is worth a trip if you like gardens, about half an hour by car. The Galloway Forest Park site has information on walking trails and the dark sky park.

What's in the house: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and a high chair if you need them. Parking is on the street outside, it's usually fine.
