The Cottage

The Cottage is in Garlieston, a small village right on the coast. The beach is sandy and it's about a five minute walk from the front door.

It's one of a row of cottages. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's comfortable and well equipped. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and Wi-Fi. You can bring one dog.

The owner is from Clan Hannay and that's reflected inside. There's tartan in one bedroom and some old family portraits. It's just part of the place's history. Their old seat, Sorbie Tower, is nearby if you're interested.

The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you have a dog. There's parking for one car on the street directly outside.

There's a shop and a pub about 250 yards away. The village is quiet. For more shops, a cinema, and a swimming pool, Newton Stewart is about a ten minute drive.

Wigtown, which is Scotland's book town with all its bookshops, is about fifteen minutes away by car. The historic site at Whithorn is also close. The whole Solway coast is good for walking, with rocky bits and other villages to find.
