Brae Cottage is in Whithorn. It's a small, end-of-terrace cottage. It sleeps three, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We had it all redone in 2022, so it's fresh and works as it should.
You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed, which is handy. It's got a nice view over the roofs towards the bay, which I like.
The living room has a wood burner. It's a good size for a couple or a small family. The stairs are fairly steep, just so you know. There's a modern kitchen and a separate dining room.
Whithorn itself is a quiet village. There's a shop, a pub that does food, and a few artists' studios. The pub's been done up recently and it's decent. The Isle of Whithorn harbour is about five minutes drive away. It's pretty, you can sit by the water.
The coastline round here is really something. There are good beaches within a short drive, like Garlieston or Monreith. If you like walking, the Southern Upland Way and the coast path are accessible.
Wigtown, Scotland's book town, is about fifteen minutes away. It's full of bookshops and has a few cafes. Newton Stewart is maybe twenty-five minutes. That's a bigger town for supermarkets and things.
For a proper day out, the Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour's drive. It's huge and wild. The 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Kirroughtree are there if that's your thing.
In terms of what's here, it's all listed. Wifi, TV, washing machine, bedding. There's bike storage if you need it. The entrance is level for wheelchair access, but the cottage itself has those steep stairs inside.
