Orchard Cottage is in Garlieston. It's one of the old cottages originally built for the gardeners at Galloway House. It's made of stone and looks out over the old orchard.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable but not grand. Everything works.
You can hear the sea from the bedroom. Rigg Bay beach is through the trees, about fifty yards from the door. It's sandy and quiet. You can easily take a cup of tea down there in the morning.
The local shop and pub are about a mile away in the village. The pub does food. For longer walks, you can pick up the coastal path right from the cottage. One way goes south to Cruggleton Castle. The other goes north through the Galloway House Gardens into the village. The gardens are known for azaleas and rhododendrons in the spring.
If you want to drive out, Wigtown is Scotland's book town and it's about twenty minutes away. Whithorn is interesting for the history, it's about half an hour. The 7stanes mountain bike trails are in the Galloway Hills, maybe a thirty minute drive. There's a golf course nearby too.
Things here: there's a woodburning stove, which is good for cooler evenings. The garden is enclosed. We include bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
