Orchard Cottage
Orchard Cottage is in Garlieston, which is right on the coast. It's a stone-built cottage that used to be for the gardeners at Galloway House. It overlooks the old orchard.
It sleeps six, across three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It’s a 4 Star place, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring up to two dogs.
The big thing is the location. Rigg Bay beach is about fifty yards away through the trees. It’s a sandy, sheltered bay. You can hear the sea from the house. The coastal path starts right from the gate. One way goes through the woods to Cruggleton Castle, the other goes into the village past the Galloway House Gardens.
Garlieston village is about a mile away. It has a shop, a pub, and a restaurant. Very handy.
For days out, Wigtown, which is Scotland’s book town, is about 15 minutes by car. You’ve got Whithorn close by too, which is historically important. The Galloway Hills and the 7stanes mountain biking trails are within half an hour if you want something more active. There are several good golf courses nearby.
Inside, it’s open plan downstairs with a woodburning stove. The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs. It has all the practical things: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, parking. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them.
