Clarksburn Blue
This is Clarksburn Blue. It's in Monreith, which is near Port William in Dumfriesshire. A proper quiet spot.
It's a detached cottage. Sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. We allow one well-behaved dog.
The main room is big, with a wood burning stove and a large farmhouse table. The views from there look out over the garden to Luce Bay. The kitchen is modern and has what you need. You can get straight out to the garden from there.
The garden is woodland, with a stream running through it. It's not manicured, it's wilder than that. The beach is just across the road. It's a long sandy beach. Good for a walk when the tide's out.
For golf, St Medans is about a mile away. It's a 9-hole course right on the bay. Port William, a few miles along, has a shop and a cafe. Further out, within about half an hour, you've got places like Portpatrick and the Isle of Whithorn.
In terms of facilities, you've got the wood burner, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. The electricity is included in the price.
If you're planning trips, the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere site has good information on the area. For gardens, the Logan Botanical Garden is worth a visit.
