Madeleine's Barn

This is Madeleine's Barn in Wells-next-the-Sea. It's a detached barn conversion we had done a while back. It's in a quiet bit of the conservation area.

It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. The bathroom's upstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are fine, typical for a barn, not too steep.

The main room is open plan. There's a wood burner, which is nice on a cooler evening. You've got a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a little enclosed patio garden out the back too, with a barbecue.

You're a very short walk from the quay and the town centre. A couple of minutes and you're there. So you've got shops, cafes, and pubs close by without needing the car. The pub down the road does food. You can get boat trips from the harbour to see the seals.

The beach is famous. It's that big stretch of sand with the pine woods and the colourful beach huts. It's about a mile or so from the cottage, so you can walk it if you want. Holkham Hall and its beach are two miles away, that way.

For birdwatching, the RSPB reserve at Titchwell is a short drive. There's good walking along the coast path.

Practical things: bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's parking for one car on the gravel drive right next to the barn.

If you're looking into the local area, the National Trust for the North Norfolk Coast has good information on beaches and walks.
