Crab Cottage is in Wells next the Sea. It’s on the quay, one of a row of cottages there. You look out over the harbour towards Wells Island. If you crane your neck from the top floor, you can see a strip of sea.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which feels about right. It’s been done up nicely.
The layout is on three floors. The living area and kitchen are on the middle floor. The bedroom and bathroom are up another flight of stairs. The stairs are quite steep and winding, in that old cottage way. Steps lead down from the kitchen to a small courtyard. It gets the sun.
You can park on site, which is a big plus for Wells. Means you can leave the car and walk everywhere.
The beach is about a mile along the harbour. It’s a big sandy beach with the famous coloured beach huts. Boat trips to see the seals go from the quay.
Wells itself is good for wandering. Plenty of places to eat and drink, from fish and chips on the quay to nicer sit-down restaurants. There’s a decent little supermarket too.
Further afield, you’ve got Holkham Hall and Beach about ten minutes west. Blakeney Point for more seals is a short drive east. The whole north Norfolk coast is good for walking and birdwatching.
Facilities: it’s got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. There is a step at the front gate and the internal stairs, so please bear that in mind.
