The Heron

The Heron is in Ardentinny, on the shore of Loch Long. It's a detached cottage, so you're on your own. The view is just water, trees, and hills. It used to be the village tea rooms.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything works, it's warm, and it's clean. There's a woodburning stove for the cooler evenings.

You're about 25 yards from the shore. You can sit on the rocks, fish, or launch a canoe if you have one. We see a lot of wildlife here. Seals, eider ducks. Sometimes dolphins out in the loch. Red squirrels in the trees.

You're right in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The Argyll Forest starts behind the cottage with tracks for walking or cycling.

Dunoon is the main town. It's got shops, pubs, and places to eat. You can get a steamer from there to see more of the lochs. The Benmore Botanic Gardens are worth a trip, about a 20 minute drive. They're impressive.

For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and a highchair. We take up to two dogs.

The nearest shop and pub are about four miles away in Coulport, so you'll want a car.
