Gareside Lodge is on the northern tip of the Gareloch, in Shandon. It's a detached cottage, modern but built in a cottage style. It's bright inside, with big French windows that open out into a small walled garden. The garden is private and gets the sun.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. It’s a 4 Star place, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The woodburning stove works well and makes it cosy in the evenings.
The Gareloch is literally down the lane from the cottage, maybe a two-minute walk. There's a slipway there if you've got a canoe or a small boat. You can fish from the shore too.
For a shop, you'll need to drive about two miles. Helensburgh is ten minutes away for bigger shops and places to eat.
You're right on the edge of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. You can drive into the park proper in about fifteen minutes. There's a golf course there too. For walking, The Cobbler is about twenty minutes by car, and Ben Lomond is around forty minutes. You're well placed to get to other parts of the National Park easily.
Glasgow is about forty-five minutes if you need a city day, or to get to the airport.
The place has what you'd need: parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you're bringing little ones, and a stairgate. You can bring up to three dogs, which is good because the area is great for walks. The garden is enclosed.
In terms of trips out, the National Trust for Scotland's Hill House in Helensburgh is nearby and worth a look.
