Middle Farm is a farmhouse on our farm in Quebec, near Lanchester in County Durham. It's not remote, you're on a working farm so you'll see us about, but it's quiet.
It sleeps ten. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms, so everyone gets a bit of space. Three of the bedrooms have an en-suite. The layout is a bit flexible, with some double and single beds combined in rooms, good for families. It has a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, but it's a farmhouse, not a show home.
Downstairs there's an open-plan kitchen and dining room with doors out to the garden. There are two living rooms, one with an open fire and one with a wood burner. Both have TVs.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. We allow two. There's parking right outside.
You're about two miles from Lanchester village. It's got a few pubs and shops. Durham city is about a twenty minute drive. The Cathedral is worth seeing. Beamish Museum is very close, maybe fifteen minutes. It's a full day out.
For walking, Hamsterley Forest is about twenty minutes away. Derwent Reservoir is a bit further, maybe half an hour. If you've got children, Hall Hill Farm is just down the road, and Diggerland is in Langley Park, about two miles away.
The house has the things you'd need: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and all the bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's a stairgate at the top of the stairs. The stairs are normal, not a spiral or anything.
It's a good base for the North East. The coast, like Seaham, is about forty minutes by car. Newcastle is under an hour.
