Olive Cottage

Olive Cottage is in Barnard Castle, right on the edge of the town centre. It's a brick terrace cottage, the middle one of three. The front door opens onto the street.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been refurbished so it feels clean and modern inside.

The main bedroom has a king size bed and a freestanding bath in the room. It's unusual but people seem to like it. The second bedroom has two singles.

Out the back there's a small patio. It gets the sun. That's where the hot tub and the barbecue are.

Inside, there's a wood burner in the living room, a TV with Sky, and a kitchen with a range cooker. It has WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's no designated parking, but you can usually find a space nearby on the street.

You're two minutes' walk from the market place. There are a few pubs that do food, some cafes, and the usual shops. The castle ruins are just down the hill.

The Bowes Museum is about a 15 minute walk. It's a big French-style building with an art collection and a famous mechanical swan. The Bowes Museum.

For walks, you can pick up the River Tees path from the town. High Force waterfall is about a 25 minute drive away, up in the Pennines. The North Pennines AONB is right on the doorstep. North Pennines AONB.

Raby Castle is about ten miles away. Durham is roughly half an hour by car.
