Raven Cottage

This is Raven Cottage. It's in Barnard Castle in County Durham. It's a sandstone terrace cottage, but the inside is done up modern.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. There's a king bed in one room, and a small double plus a single in the other, so it works for a couple or a small family. The stairs are regular stairs, not too narrow. The garden is a small, walled courtyard out the back. It gets the sun in the afternoon.

Inside, it's all been redone. There's a kitchen and dining area that are open plan, and a separate living room with a sofa and a TV. It's got WiFi. Everything's clean and it works. You get bedding and towels. There's a washing machine. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring two dogs.

Location-wise, it's right in the town. You can walk to the shops, pubs, and the castle ruins. There's a co-op for groceries. The Bowes Museum is just up the road. It's a strange, huge French-style building with a famous silver swan that moves. It's well worth a look.

If you want to get out, you're right next to the Pennine Way for walking. The River Tees and the Teesdale Way are on the doorstep. High Force waterfall is about a 20-minute drive. Raby Castle is about 15 minutes away. A bit further, you've got the North Pennines AONB, or you can drive over to The Forbidden Corner near Leyburn, which is unusual. It takes about 45 minutes.
