Cobblers Cottage

Cobblers Cottage is on Horsemarket in Barnard Castle. It’s a stone-built terrace cottage, built around the 1850s I think. The front door opens straight onto the street. There’s a small flagged patio out the back with a table and chairs.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one with a king-size bed, the other a double. There’s one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It has a 4 Star rating. The kitchen is modern and has a dishwasher. The living room has an electric stove that gives off a good heat.

You’re right in the middle of town. The market square, shops, and pubs are a two-minute walk. The Bowes Museum is about five minutes away. It’s a big, famous museum with a lot of art and that silver swan automaton. Their website is The Bowes Museum.

For walks, you can start from the doorstep. The River Tees and the ruins of the castle are just down the hill. For a proper day out, the North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales are both close. High Force waterfall is about a 20-minute drive. The North Pennines AONB site has good walking information: North Pennines AONB.

Facilities: WiFi, TV, bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on the street, you usually find a space nearby. No pets, sorry.
