The Thistle

The Thistle is on the main street in Auchtermuchty, up near the church. It's an end-terrace cottage, so you get the little garden to yourselves.

It sleeps four. Two proper bedrooms downstairs, then one more upstairs that's a bit smaller and you could use it as an office. One bathroom, which is upstairs too.

The living space is all one room at the top of the house: kitchen, sitting area, and a log burner. It's a good use of the space. The stairs are a normal flight, nothing too cottage-style.

There's parking for one car behind the cottage, off the lane. The garden is enclosed with a deck and a bit of grass.

In the village, you've got a co-op, a post office, and a couple of pubs that do meals, all within a few minutes' walk.

It's a handy spot for getting out. Falkland is about ten minutes' drive, its palace is with Historic Environment Scotland. St Andrews is about twenty-five minutes. You can be on the coast at Elie or Crail in under half an hour.

The cottage has a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and the bedding and towels are included. The log burner is ready to use. No pets, sorry.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust for Scotland Fife Coast page is useful for the beaches and walks.
