Moncrieff House is in Falkland. It's a big house, sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
It's got a five star rating, which basically means it's been done to a high standard and is well equipped. Everything was refurbished in 2023.
The main thing about it is the age. Parts of the house are from 1610. It used to be the Master of the King's Stables' house. You can see the date carved above the front door.
You get a good view of Falkland Palace from some of the windows. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you've got kids or a dog. Wait, no pets, sorry. I forgot.
The stairs are wooden and a bit uneven. It's an old house. The doors are low in some places too.
Falkland itself is a small village. There's a couple of pubs, a cafe, and a shop. It's quiet. The Palace is run by the National Trust for Scotland and is worth a visit. The gardens are nice.
Right behind the village is the Falkland Estate. You can walk straight into it. There are miles of paths there, up into the woods and onto the Lomond Hills. The estate has a cafe and gallery in the old stables.
For a day out, St Andrews is about half an hour's drive. You've got the beach, the university, and the golf. Dundee is about the same distance, with the V&A museum and the RRS Discovery. Edinburgh is just under an hour if you want a city trip.
In terms of what's there, you've got a washing machine, WiFi, TV, all the bedding and towels. The kitchen has everything you'd need. Parking is on the street outside the house.
