The Goldsmiths Apartment is in the old stable block on the Balbirnie Estate, near Glenrothes. It's a first-floor flat. You get a view over the cobbled courtyard from the Juliet balcony, and there's one of those original circular windows.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 4 Star, so it's been done up nicely. It's light, and it's all open plan living, dining, and kitchen area. The kitchen appliances are good.
You're set in 400 acres of parkland. You can walk straight out into it. There are proper woodland paths. The rhododendron collection here is famous in the spring, hundreds of them. You'll see golfers about too, as the 18-hole course is right there.
The village of Markinch is a short walk. There's a shop there, about 15 minutes. The local pub and the restaurant at Balbirnie House Hotel are even closer, maybe five minutes' walk.
If you're driving, St Andrews is about half an hour. For the coast, Leven has a long promenade and beach, about 20 minutes away. The Fife Coastal Route is good for a drive or a walk. You can get the train from Markinch station into Edinburgh easily, or north to Perth.
Facilities are all there: wifi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. No pets, sorry.
For planning days out, the National Trust for Scotland in Fife has good information.
