Key House is ours. It's in the middle of Falkland, right next to the Palace. The building is from 1713 and it's listed, so we had to be careful with the work. The beams in the living room and kitchen are supposed to be from the old Forest of Falkland. There's a marriage lintel over the front door with the initials TM and KK. We think the stone might have come from the Palace itself.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms and four bathrooms, which is handy. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after. It's detached, with your own garden. Parking is on site.
The stairs are normal, not a spiral or anything. There's a log burner in the lounge. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got wifi and a TV. There's a BBQ out the back. No pets, sorry.
You're right in the village. There's a shop about 200 yards away. The pub and a restaurant are even closer, about 100 yards. The Falkland Estate is on the doorstep for walks. The estate stables have a cafe and a shop with local things.
If you want the coast, the East Neuk fishing villages are about half an hour's drive. The Fife Coastal Path is good for a long walk. St Andrews is about 25 minutes away by car. For a bigger day out, you can get to Perth, Dundee, or Edinburgh in under an hour. Ladybank station isn't far if you want the train.
