13 Doomgate Cottage is in Appleby-in-Westmorland. It's a two-up, two-down cottage, end of terrace. Sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. You can bring up to two dogs.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's had a good, recent renovation. It's comfortable and clean. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they're a bit steeper than a modern house.
Downstairs is a living room with a wood burning stove, a separate dining room, and a kitchen at the back. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's an enclosed garden, which is handy with dogs.
You're right in the town. There's a pub a few minutes' walk away and the River Eden is at the bottom of the road if you like fishing. The town itself is small but it's got the basics: a couple of shops, cafes, a butchers. The main street has Georgian buildings.
The big draw is the location. You're not in the Lake District, but you're right on the edge. It's about a 25-minute drive to places like Penrith or the northern lakes, Ullswater and Haweswater. Kirkby Stephen and the Howgills are even closer, about 15 minutes.
The other way, you've got the North Pennines right on your doorstep. It's good walking country, but quieter than the main honeypots in the Lakes.
Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi. Parking is on the street outside the cottage.
