Set within the National Park, Woodside Cottage provides a peaceful, cosy retreat in northwest Northumberland. The area is a designated Dark Sky Park making this an idyllic retreat for stargazers or astronomers. The cottage has recently undergone a refurbishment and provides lovely accommodation for up to three guests. The welcoming livng room has a cosy country style with high ceilings and beams and comfortable seating nestling around an open fire, perfect to curl up on a winter’s evening. The kitchen/dining room, with vaulted ceilings, oak beams and a cosy wood burner, this is a lovely room to sit and relax while the designated chef rustles up breakfast or supper in the well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs a kingsize bed with pull-out trundle suitable for a child. There is a separate shower room with corner shower. To the front of the cottage is a gravelled area set with bistro table and chairs to enjoy in the warmer weather. Fully enclosed should you be travelling with your furry friend.
The Scottish border and northern stretch of the Pennine Way are nearby. Woodside Cottage makes an ideal base with a host of popular attractions within a short drive. Explore Hadrian’s Wall, the Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre and Sycamore Gap, arguably the most famous tree in the UK! Sycamore Gap receives thousands of visitors each year, mainly due to the rugged and striking landscapes and the landmark is highly photographed. For Food lovers and pub goers there is a great selection of country pubs and eateries within a 15-minute drive of Woodside, the closest is dog friendly and better still just a 4-minute walk.
With so many attractions within an easy drive, it’s easy to see why this is a popular go-to part of Northumberland. Explore the Borders, Jedburgh, the Coquet valley and Cheviot Hills, Coquetdale, the Elsdon Valley and Simonside Hills, Rothbury, the North Tyne Valley, Bellingham, Hadrian’s Wall and Tynedale. Kielder Forest is 10 minutes away, with Kielder Water 45 minutes’ drive, ideal for water sport enthusiasts, mountain-bikers and birdwatchers. Nearby tourist attractions also include National Trust properties at Wallington and Cragside, Roman forts and museums at Chesters, Corbridge, Housesteads and Vindolanda and the intriguing gardens of Belsay Hall and Alnwick Castle.
